What are hooks?

A hook is the opening line of your LinkedIn post - the text that appears before the "see more" button. On LinkedIn, users see only the first 2-3 lines of a post in their feed. A strong hook determines whether someone stops scrolling and reads your full post.

Great hooks create curiosity, promise value, or make a bold statement that demands attention.

How to use the Hooks Generator

1. Click Hooks in the sidebar
2. Choose a topic from 10 popular categories:
   • Career Growth, Leadership, Productivity, Hiring & Recruiting, Startups, Remote Work, Sales Tips, Marketing, AI & Tech, Personal Branding
3. Or enter a custom topic for more specific results
4. Click Generate

The AI creates 6 two-line hooks per request. Each hook shows:

• The full hook text formatted as it would appear on LinkedIn
• Character count for the first line (so you can see how much text appears before the line break)
• A Copy button to grab the text
• A Use in Editor button to start a post with that hook

Choosing the right hook

Look for hooks that:

• Create curiosity - "I got fired from my dream job. Here is what happened next."
• Make a bold claim - "90% of LinkedIn posts fail because of this one mistake."
• Promise specific value - "5 tools that saved me 10 hours per week as a solopreneur."
• Challenge assumptions - "The worst career advice I ever received was 'follow your passion.'"

Avoid hooks that are:

• Too vague or generic ("Here are some thoughts on marketing")
• Clickbait without substance (the post must deliver on what the hook promises)
• Too long (keep hooks under 100 characters for maximum impact)

Tips for using hooks effectively

Generate multiple batches. Click regenerate to get fresh hooks until you find one that resonates. The cost per generation is minimal.

Customize after selecting. Use the hook as a starting point, then adjust the wording to match your authentic voice.

Test different styles. Some audiences respond better to questions, others to bold statements, others to stories. Experiment and track which hooks drive the most engagement.

Pair hooks with the Algorithm Score. After loading a hook into the editor, check the Hook Strength component of the Algorithm Score to see how it rates.
