Optimal Posting Times
Learn the best times to post on LinkedIn for maximum reach and engagement based on audience behavior.
When to post on LinkedIn
Posting at the right time significantly impacts your reach and engagement. LinkedIn's algorithm gives extra visibility to posts that get early engagement (likes and comments in the first 60-90 minutes), so publishing when your audience is active is important.
General best times
Based on LinkedIn usage patterns, these are the most effective posting windows:
Best days
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - Highest activity and engagement
- Monday - Good, but mornings tend to be busy with emails
- Friday - Moderate activity, drops off in the afternoon
- Weekend - Lower overall activity, but less competition for attention
Best times of day
- 7:00 - 9:00 AM - People check LinkedIn during their morning commute or before work
- 12:00 - 1:00 PM - Lunch break browsing
- 5:00 - 6:00 PM - End of workday wind-down
All times are relative to your audience's timezone, not yours. If your audience is in New York but you are in London, schedule posts for New York business hours.
Finding your best times
The general guidelines above are a starting point. Your ideal posting times depend on your specific audience. Here is how to find them:
Test different times
Post at various times over 2-4 weeks and compare engagement. Try early morning, mid-morning, lunch, and late afternoon slots to see what works best for your audience.
Consider your audience's timezone
If your audience is primarily in one region, schedule posts for their local business hours. If you have a global audience, experiment with times that catch multiple timezones.
Track patterns
Over time, you will notice patterns in which posts get more engagement. Look for correlations between posting time and performance. Keep notes on what works.
Using timezone settings
Make sure your LinkedGrow timezone is configured correctly:
- Go to Settings
- Set your timezone to match your audience's primary timezone (not necessarily your own)
- All scheduled times will reflect this timezone
For example, if you are based in Europe but your audience is mostly in the US, set your timezone to Eastern Time so scheduling feels intuitive.
Consistency matters more than perfection
While optimal timing helps, consistency is more important than finding the perfect time slot. Posting regularly at the same times trains your audience to expect your content and helps the LinkedIn algorithm understand your publishing pattern.
Aim for 3-5 posts per week at consistent times rather than sporadic posting at "perfect" times.
Tips
- Do not post at the exact hour - many people schedule posts at :00, so try posting at :05 or :15 to avoid the rush
- Avoid weekday evenings - LinkedIn activity drops significantly after 7 PM
- Leverage holidays strategically - LinkedIn is quieter on holidays, which can mean less competition but also fewer viewers
- Re-share performing content - If a post did well at one time, try a similar topic at the same time slot
